“Autumn 1918 in Brandon was not an easy ride.<\/em><\/p>\n

WWI wouldn’t end until November 11th. Prohibition was into its third year. The city was also struggling financially and Mayor Cater was desperately allocating funding to keep necessary services afloat.<\/em><\/p>\n

Then the ‘Spanish Flu’ arrived.<\/em><\/p>\n

Follow along with us as we give day-to-day updates of this past pandemic in the Wheat City.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Over the fall months we followed the 1918 Spanish Flu as it unfolded in the city of Brandon. Updates published in the Brandon Sun newspaper in 1918 were posted over our social media on their corresponding dates in 2020.<\/p>\n

The research for this project will be put into a final presentation in the future. We thank everyone for the support and comments throughout this series.<\/p>\n
